Donna and Jason (and Savannah) were married at Kindred Oaks on April 13, 2012. Don and I had a wonderful time photographing the event and meeting their family and friends. Here are a few words from Donna that say it all about our coverage:

La Paloma Open House

We spent the afternoon with our friends at La Paloma Event Center near Lake Travis today and had a really great time. The food was provided by Dagar’s Catering and was excellent as always. Frank of DNA Events coordinated the open house and the owner Diana Barron was on hand to welcome brides and grooms. Premiere Party Central was on site to provide rentals. Janet Morgan of Wild Bunches brought her “Flowers with an Attitude” . Dave and Dana at the Austin Wedding Mall Show

Have you ever had to be in two places at once? I have. Recently on the day of the Austin Wedding Mall Show I had overlapping engagements on opposite ends of Travis County. Fortunately, my son Dave and his girlfriend Dana covered the wedding mall show so that I could photograph a last minute event in Lago Vista. It worked out perfectly, and well, aren’t they cute!?!

Alyssa and Josh Engaged in the Texas Bluebonnets

This year has been fantastic for bluebonnets! Alyssa, her firefighter groom Josh brought along their dog Gracie for a romp in the Texas countryside. Gracie is an AMAZING puppy, very photogenic and easy to photograph. Josh and Alyssa have a great relationship, and we had a terrific session with a wide range of romantic portraits. Cassie met Josh on a brisk, winter night while at a North (UT) Campus social gathering in early 2006. Being the studious college kids that they were, the two discussed Jack Kerouac over Foosball, and she won. Josh, defeated yet determined, requested a rematch that never came. What came instead was six years of friendship and dating until their hearts grew so enraptured with one another that Josh decided the time was right to, as the great feminist philosopher of our time, Beyoncé said, “put a ring on it.” Cassie said yes, and here we are. Here are some details on our proposal: Cassie woke up one Saturday from an early nap (after running some errands) and saw that she had a dress laid out for her to wear. She started getting ready when she saw a text from her loving boyfriend, Josh: “Wake up and get dressed, do your hair and get all did up. It has begun. A scavenger hunt for the ages. You will travel to 5 destinations. At each destination you must find a clue. Then take a picture of yourself with the clue in front of the destination.” Each subsequent text from Josh took Cassie to a different special place, e.g. where Josh and Cassie first met, where they went on first dates, etc. until she finally collected all the clues: sheets of paper, each with a different letter on them spelling out M+A+R+R+Y. The last text Josh sent her lead Cassie to her favorite trees at the Botanical Gardens in Zilker Park, the banana magnolia trees. Cassie found Josh with a sign taped to his shirt that said “Me?” and he got down on one knee holding a ring in his fingers. Cassie was so happy and said yes. They went out for celebratory drinks before dinner, since Josh already had dinner reservations planned. At the restaurant, Cassie was surprised again to find that both her parents and Josh’s parents were waiting to celebrate their special day with them.

Katherine and Tony Married at Kindred Oaks

Katherine and Tony’s wedding at Kindred Oaks offered me some new places to photograph, such as capturing the couple and the bridal party playing around the facility’s newest feature, the Giant “LOVE” sculpture. As always, the staff at Kindred Oaks ensured that the evening was flawless, great atmosphere, fresh air, terrific food, and an incredible facility. If you are planning an event, and haven’t yet been to Kindred Oaks, or if its been a while since your seen the venue, I encourage you to call Elaine Lincoln and her staff and take a tour of the facility. Many beautiful additions such as the large stone fireplace, protective curtains for the outdoor pavilion, and impeccable grounds have improved what I have always believed was already a perfect romantic venue. Kat and Tony met at their workplace the restaurant Litoria Lisina, a part of the Duchman Winery. They both have a great love of their family, something that brought them together. Tony said he knew by the second date that he wanted to marry Kat, but Kat said she took a little longer. He proposed at Chapel Dulcinea. On the wedding day, they wanted to see each other before the ceremony to exchange gifts. Kat gave Tony a vintage spoon that says “Tony will you marry me” because he is the head chef at Tratoria Lisina. Tony gave Kat a diamond bracelet designed by Matt from Benbridge Jewelers. Their beautiful flowers at the wedding were by Heather of ZuZu’s Petals, and the food by Catherine of Eudoras were lucious crag cakes and steak sandwiches with Fennel Apple coleslaw. Round Rock Donuts provided the Groom’s cake.
